HARIDWAR
It is one of the holiest and scared place for Hindus which has having lot of mythological importance. The name literally means “Gateway to God”. After traveling 253 kms from its source, at Gaumukh, 3,139 m (10,300 feet) above sea level, river Ganga enters the Indo-Gangetic plain of north India for the first time in Haridwar. Here you will find lot of Hindus praying alongside the banks of river. There are numerous bathing steps where the people take dip in the water and it is said that after taking 2-3 dips in the holy river Ganga your sins for this birth will be finished.
